  • The Advantage: Because this massive gas engine is nearly 900 lbs lighter than the diesel, the F-250 Gas often has a significantly higher Payload Capacity (3,800 – 4,200+ lbs). This makes it the superior choice for heavy Truck Campers or 5th wheels with heavy pin weights.

• 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel (The Towing King):

  • The Stats: 475 hp / 1,050 lb-ft torque (Standard Output).

  • Max Towing: ~22,000 – 23,000 lbs.

  • The Trap: The diesel engine is heavy. A loaded F-250 Lariat or Platinum Diesel might only have 2,000 – 2,400 lbs of available payload. This is often not enough for a large luxury 5th wheel, even though the engine has the power to pull it.

• Note on High Output Diesel: You can now get the High Output (500 hp / 1,200 lb-ft) in an F-250, but it is often overkill unless you have the "High Capacity Axle" package.

If you want F-350 capability without the "One Ton" badge, look for the F-250 High Capacity Axle Upgrade Package.
