RV Wheel Bearing Service & Repair
Protect Your Investment & Your Family.
Wheel bearings are the most critical safety component on your travel trailer or fifth wheel, yet they are often overlooked until it is too late. A seized bearing can lead to a wheel locking up at highway speeds, a tire blowout, or even an axle fire.
At Leisure Days RV Group, we perform comprehensive bearing maintenance to ensure your next road trip is safe and smooth. We service all major axle manufacturers, including Dexter, Lippert (LCI), and AL-KO.
Our Bearing Services
The "Clean & Repack" (Recommended Annually)
Old grease breaks down and loses its ability to reduce friction. Our complete repack service is the best preventative maintenance you can do.
-
Disassembly: We remove the hub and drum to access the inner and outer bearings.
-
Cleaning: All old grease is chemically removed to allow for a proper visual inspection.
-
Inspection: We check the bearings, races, and spindles for signs of heat discoloration, pitting, or wear.
-
Repack: Bearings are packed with fresh, high-temperature lithium complex grease.
-
New Seals: We always install new double-lip grease seals to keep moisture out and grease in.
Brake Inspection & Adjustment
Since the wheels are already off for bearing service, we inspect your braking system at the same time.
-
Shoe Wear: Checking the thickness of the brake shoes.
-
Magnet Condition: Inspecting the brake magnets for uneven wear.
-
Adjustment: Manually adjusting the brake shoes to ensure they engage the drum correctly for maximum stopping power.
Bearing Replacement
If inspection reveals damage, we replace the entire bearing assembly (cup and cone) to restore factory performance.
When Should You Service Your Bearings?
Most axle manufacturers recommend servicing your wheel bearings every 12 months or 12,000 miles (20,000 km), whichever comes first. Even if your trailer sat parked all year, condensation can build up inside the hub, causing rust on the bearings.
Don't Risk It.
A bearing service is a small price to pay to avoid being stranded on the side of the highway. Book your inspection today.
