Our A/C Services

The "A/C Tune-Up" (Recommended Annually) The #1 cause of A/C failure is a lack of airflow. Over time, your roof unit sucks in bugs, leaves, and dust that clog the cooling fins.

  • Coil Cleaning: We remove the shroud and chemically clean the condenser and evaporator coils to restore maximum efficiency.

  • Filter Check: Cleaning or replacing the interior intake filters.

  • Delta-T Test: We measure the temperature drop between the intake and exhaust air to ensure the unit is cooling to factory specs (typically a 16-22°F drop).

  • Amp Draw Test: Checking the compressor and fan motor electrical draw to catch failing components early.

Repair & Troubleshooting

Is your A/C making a humming noise but not starting? Is it dripping water inside the camper?

  • Capacitor Replacement: We replace failed start/run capacitors (a common cause of units that hum but won't spin).

  • Hard Start Kits: Installation of soft-start or hard-start capacitors to help your A/C start easier on generator power or low-voltage campground pedestals.

  • Leak Repair: Tightening the mounting bolts (to proper torque specs) or replacing the 14x14 roof gasket to stop water from entering the RV.

  • Thermostat Issues: Diagnosing communication errors between your wall thermostat and the roof unit.

Replacement & Upgrades

Sometimes a unit is simply too old or inefficient to save. We can help you upgrade.

  • Unit Replacement: Swapping out old, loud units for modern, quiet, and energy-efficient models.

  • Second A/C Installation: If your 50-Amp RV is "prepped" for a second air conditioner in the bedroom, we can install the unit, ceiling assembly, and thermostat.

  • Shroud Replacement: Replacing sun-damaged, cracked plastic covers before they blow off on the highway.

Why is RV A/C Maintenance Critical?

Unlike residential units, RV air conditioners endure earthquake-level vibration while towing and intense UV exposure on the roof.

  • Vibration: Road travel loosens the four mounting bolts that seal the unit to the roof. If these aren't torqued annually, water will leak into your ceiling.

  • Airflow: A dirty condenser coil forces the compressor to work harder, leading to overheating and premature failure. A simple cleaning can double the life of your A/C.
