Class C Motorhomes Under 25 Feet: The "Goldilocks" RV

For many travelers, a Camper Van (Class B) is just too tight, but a standard 30-foot Motorhome is too intimidating to drive. Enter the Class C Under 25 Feet.

At Leisure Days RV Group, we call this the "Goldilocks" category. These compact motorhomes are built on the same robust chassis (Ford E-Series or Chevy Express) as the big rigs, but their short wheelbase makes them incredibly agile. You get the full Dry Bath (separate shower) and dedicated bed of a large RV, in a package that can U-turn on a city street.

The "Under 25" Advantage

  • Park Anywhere: At 23–25 feet, you fit into two standard parking spots end-to-end. You can easily navigate grocery store lots, trailhead parking, and downtown streets.

  • The "National Park" Pass: You will never be turned away from a campsite. These units fit into the smallest, most scenic loops in Banff, Jasper, and Algonquin Park where big rigs are banned.

  • No Special License: These units are well under the weight limits for standard driver's licenses. If you can drive a U-Haul truck or a large SUV, you can drive these with confidence.

Top Models Under 25 Feet

1. Thor Motor Coach (Four Winds / Chateau) Thor is the volume leader in this segment for a reason.

  • Top Pick: Four Winds 22E. The classic "Corner Bed" layout. At roughly 24 feet, it features a permanent Queen bed in the rear corner and a full dinette. No slide-outs means less maintenance and a lighter weight.

  • Why We Love It: It offers massive exterior storage (the "Mega Storage" compartment) that swallows camping gear, golf clubs, and folding chairs—something Class B vans can't do.

2. Coachmen (Freelander) Coachmen focuses on practical features and rugged construction.

  • Top Pick: Freelander 22XG. At 24 feet 3 inches, this is a unique "Cross-Trek" style layout. It features a Murphy Bed system that folds up to reveal a massive cargo area with a rear door—perfect for loading bicycles or kayaks inside the RV.

  • The Build: Look for Azdel composite sidewalls, which prevent delamination and save weight, keeping the center of gravity low.

3. Forest River (Sunseeker / Forester) Forest River packs high-end features into their compact LE series.

  • Top Pick: Sunseeker LE 2250SLE. At just 23 feet 10 inches, this is one of the shortest Class Cs on the market. Despite its size, it features a full slide-out for the bedroom closet/bunks, giving you surprising wardrobe space.

4. Jayco (Redhawk SE) Jayco brings superior ride and handling to the entry-level market.

  • Top Pick: Redhawk SE 22AF. Measuring 24 feet 8 inches, this unit features the JRide stability package, making it one of the smoothest-handling small motorhomes on the highway.

  • The Layout: A bright, open floor plan with a corner bed and a fully usable bathroom that doesn't feel like a closet.

Layout Logic: Corner Bed vs. Murphy Bed

In this size class, the floor plan is dictated by the bed.

  • The Corner Bed: The bed is permanently fixed in the rear corner next to the bathroom.

    • Pros: Always ready to sleep; massive storage underneath.

    • Cons: The inside sleeper has to crawl over the outside sleeper to get out; the bathroom sink is often outside the toilet room.

  • The Murphy Bed: The bed folds up into the wall during the day.

    • Pros: Creates a huge living room/sofa area during the day.

    • Cons: You lose the "pass-through" exterior storage; you have to make the bed every night.

Ready to Drive?

  • Test the Turning Radius: Come to Leisure Days RV Group and drive a Thor or Coachmen. You will be amazed at how tight they can turn compared to a long trailer.

  • Check the Overhang: These units have a "Cab-Over" bunk. While great for kids or storage, remember you are taller than you think (usually 11+ feet). Watch out for drive-thrus!

  • Shop Compact: Filter our inventory by "Length: Under 25ft" to find the most agile motorhomes on our lot.
