Financing an RV When Self-Employed

Don't Let Your Tax Write-Offs Stop Your Adventure.

For business owners, contractors, and freelancers, tax time is about maximizing expenses to lower your net income. While this is smart for your tax bill, it can create a major headache when you try to finance a luxury asset like an RV.

Traditional banks look at Line 15000 of your Notice of Assessment (NOA). If your write-offs are high, your "paper income" might look too low to support the loan, even if your actual cash flow is strong.

At Leisure Days RV Group, we understand the entrepreneurial reality. We work with specialized lenders who offer "Stated Income" programs that look beyond your tax return.

The "Stated Income" Solution

For borrowers with strong credit (typically 650+), many of our lenders allow us to "state" your actual gross income without requiring tax returns for verification.

  • How it Works: The approval is based on the strength of your credit history and the value of the RV (the asset), rather than your taxable income.

Bank Statement Programs

If you are looking for a larger loan (e.g., a luxury Diesel Pusher) or if your credit score is in the rebuilding phase, we can use Business Bank Statements to prove your income.

  • The Process: We submit 3 to 6 months of your business bank statements to show the lender your real monthly deposits and cash flow.

Buying Through Your Corporation?

Many business owners ask if they can buy the RV in their company name.

  • The Answer: Yes, commercial RV financing is possible, but it is often more complex. It usually requires a personal guarantee from the primary shareholder. Our finance managers can walk you through the pros and cons of Personal vs. Commercial registration.

Tips for Approval

  1. Down Payment: Be prepared for a down payment of 10% to 20%. This "skin in the game" reduces the lender's risk significantly when income verification is waived.

  2. Credit Health: Since we are asking the lender to trust your income without proof, your credit history needs to show reliability. If you have credit challenges, we may need to use a Bad Credit Program instead.
