RV Extended Warranty FAQ

Common Questions About Mechanical Coverage.

Buying an extended warranty is a decision about risk management. To help you decide if it is right for you, here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions about our Mechanical Breakdown Protection.

Q: Doesn't my new RV already come with a warranty?

A: Yes, but it is limited. Most new RV manufacturers offer a 1-Year Limited Warranty. However, financing terms often last for 10 to 20 years. An Extended Warranty kicks in after the manufacturer's coverage expires, protecting you for up to 7 or 8 years total. It ensures you aren't making monthly payments on an RV that you also have to pay to fix.

Q: Can I get my RV fixed at any dealership?

A: Yes. Unlike some dealer-specific programs, our Extended Warranty plans are valid at any authorized RV service center in North America. Whether you break down in Banff, Alberta or Phoenix, Arizona, you are covered. You simply call the toll-free number on your contract to start a claim.

Q: Is this the same as RV Insurance?

A: No. They cover different things.

  • RV Insurance covers accidental damage (collisions, theft, fire, hail, tree branches).

  • Extended Warranty covers mechanical failures (fridge stops cooling, slide-out motor burns out, water pump fails). Think of it like a house: Insurance covers the fire; Warranty covers the broken furnace.

Q: Can I buy this later?

A: You can, but it will cost more. The best price is available when the unit is purchased because the RV is brand new and has 0 kilometers of use. If you wait, the price usually increases, and you may be required to pay for a mechanical inspection before coverage can be added.

Q: Is there a deductible?

A: Yes, similar to car insurance, there is usually a deductible per claim (typically $50 to $100). However, one deductible often covers multiple repair items if they are fixed during the same visit.

Q: Does it cover water leaks?

A: Generally, no. Water intrusion is considered a "Maintenance Issue" (seals must be checked regularly). However, we do offer specific protection upgrades that can assist with this. Ask your Finance Manager for details on seal coverage.

Q: If I sell my RV, is the money lost? A: No. These plans are fully transferable to the next private owner. This allows you to sell your used RV with a "Warranty Included," which allows you to command a higher selling price.
